Stating Intentions - Townships / Ritchie, MacKenzie, MacRae

The North Assynt Estate is made up of thirteen townships, they are; Torbreck, Achmelvich, Clachtoll, Stoer, Balchladich, Clashmore, Raffin, Culkein Stoer, Achnacharnin, Clashnessie, Culkein Drumbeg, Drumbeg and Nedd.

The first discussions regarding the initial rumours that the estate was again being put up for sale, and the possible impacts that could have, had taken place in the Assynt branch of the Scottish Crofters Union. Allan MacRae, John Mackenzie and Bill Ritchie were, respectively, the Chairmen, Vice Chairman, and Treasurer of the Branch. The trio became leading figures for the campaign to buy the land.
