The Second Bid - Offer Revised / Letter of the Law

It was not until the 22nd of September that the Trust heard their first bid had been rejected, along with all other offers from various parties. This was of course disappointing news for the Crofters, however they also felt like there had been prejudice involved in the rejection of the bid - that perhaps the liquidator was, in the words of John Mackenzie: “keeping our offer on the back burner whilst they look to negotiate with others.”

Undeterred, the Trust submitted a second bid on the 23rd of September of £245,000. An accompanying letter went with the bid that clearly stated the crofters intentions if their bid was rejected again - making it plain that they would use the terms of the 1976 Act to buy their crofts.
